Chicago wedding weekend

I'm baaack! My old roomie's wedding in Chicago was so much fun (see how excited I was on the drive up there?).

The GPS said we'd get to Chicago almost 2 hours before the ceremony, but construction traffic slowed us waaaay down and we didn't get there till 20 min before the ceremony started - still wearing jeans! So we stopped at a gas station where Evan filled up the tank and changed in my car and I ran into the bathroom - quite classy, I know. The wedding was Catholic (so fairly long), then the reception was downtown in the Harold Washington Library. It was such a neat venue - and sadly I didn't get any good pictures of the location, but I found these online:

The reception was in the main lobby - with a string quartet playing and lots of wine and appetizers. Sadly I didn't get enough apps because I was trying to find a place to put my gift - apparently people don't bring presents to weddings anymore!

Then we moved upstairs to the top floor for dinner. The ceiling was glass so we could see the stars (well, not really, since it was a big city, but we could see the sky.) It was an awesome place for a wedding reception - and the party lasted 6 hours!! My favorite part was the photobooth. If there hadn't always been such a long line, I probably would have been in there the whole time like the flowergirls (literally every time I was in line, they were ahead of me, then back in line by the time I got out of the photobooth. Girls after my own heart.)

Oh, and instead of cake, they had the most delicious cupcakes. Mine was red velvet. In this picture I look scared and gross, but I was really just thrilled to be eating it!

After staying at Swissotel (and paying the $52 for valet ... ugh!), we walked down the street to have breakfast at a little bakery/cafe place -- lovely view:

Then took a couple of cheesy solo pics in the city before heading back!

Oh, and I got this lovely little picture of the trip meter: 666. Yikes! I was afraid we were about to crash for that whole mile!

On that note, see y'all later!
