hot child in the city

Well, I am back from my NYC weekend and kind of depressed at the thought of bar review classes starting in full swing tomorrow. But let's not dwell on that...let's talk about how much I love NYC!

As you can see above, I am still trying to collect an entire alphabet of pictures. To tell you the truth, the N and C above were intended to be a Z and C, but I needed "NYC" for this post, so I did a little altering. Shh. I carried around my giant camera all weekend and was our professional photographer for the trip. :)

Anyway, the trip started on Friday night with dinner at an adorable Italian place in Astoria (Queens), where my friend lives. I can't remember the name, so no link. But it was wonderful! I had spinach fettucine w/ diced tomatoes and shitake mushrooms ... yum.

Then we rested up and started Saturday with a trip to the TKTS booth in Times Square to try and get tickets to a matinee. Instead of getting our tickets there, we went straight to the box office and got student tickets (only $30!) for Promises, Promises with Jack from Will & Grace and Kristen Chenowith. It was a great show and, we told ourselves, such a good deal! While we waited for the show to begin, we went next door to Crumbs, where we got delicious cupcakes. I had just had a giant slice of pizza for lunch, but it seemed that getting dessert was only the right thing to do with such a delish bakery right there. Juls and I split the grasshopper cupcake (the giant one below) -- yum.

We took the typical tourist shot in front of the sign out front...

That night, we had dinner at a diner near the theater in midtown (again, can't remember the name. I suck.) I had a burger and then we headed out for the night. We went to a few different bars in SoHo (again, can't remember the names. What is wrong with me?) and then finally got home at 4 am (I love NY!).

The next day we headed out to Coney Island and had a nutritious lunch at Nathan's -- NYC has a disturbing new law requiring restaurants to post the calories in each of their menu items. No thanks, I did not need to know that the fries I ate had 680 calories.

Look at all the hotdogs .... good thing we are not vegetarians!

That night we went to dinner in the East Village at La Lucha, which was a really good Mexican restaurant/taqueria -- then got Mexican popsicles for dessert. I had a rice pudding popsicle which may sound gross but was the best thing I have ever eaten! Then we had planned on karaoke but our friends were too tired and we were a little relieved b/c we were pretty tired as well.

On Monday, we had a shorter day because our flights left in the afternoon. We managed to have a little Gossip Girl day by starting at Bendel's (where I got a very Blair-like headband!) and walking around the UES.

We stopped by the Plaza just because, and then finally had to head back to Queens and to the airport. I flew out of JFK and Julie out of LaGuardia, and both were insane. I finally got back to Lex at 4am after too many delays, spent yesterday recovering by sleeping and watching TV, and now that I have blogged, I have very few excuses not to be working on bar review.

Perhaps it's time for a little trip to the grocery ... I surely can't study on an empty stomach, right??
