Shedding a little light on the subject

My apartment (it's a loft) only has one window -- and while it's a big window, I have been wishing there were more windows in here lately (and so has Mabel, who never gets to sit and watch birds or mice or anything). Soooo, I went to the flea market and picked up an old window and got to work ..

The starting point. I wish you could see how clumpy the paint was. Instead of scraping it all off, I ended up just painting over the paint. That way it still looks old (that was my excuse) plus didn't take up hours and hours).

My mom also had a window out in our barn that someone had taken when an old building got new windows a while ago, so I painted that one too. I decided to get a little crafty with the second window and paint flowers on it (it's supposed to look like a window-box). Mabel helped (sort of).

And finally -- the finished projects! I did these a while ago but wanted to wait until they were hung before I posted about it. And finally, here we are!

In my bedroom:

And in my living room / kitchen: (the ivy was Evan's idea ... if this whole legal career fails, he'll probably be ready for a career on TLC or HGTV!)

Ah, much better!

I looked online for suggestions and found a bunch of projects with windows that I would love to do if I had some more windows (and some more space):

(my personal fave -- I want a porch!)

  1. I really like your blog! I'm a new author and have enjoyed this new experience. I find that it's the most difficult and most rewarding. I'm also a graphic designer and love having that creative outlet as well.
Thanks for your post! I will be back for more updates. :-)
