Well, I saw Tad do this week's top 2 tuesday and for once knew just what I would add! This week's topic is top two favorite books. I love love love reading and even though I haven't done much for pleasure in the last few years, these are my favorite books:
First: John Irving's The Cider House Rules. I had read The World According to Garp (which is also great) in school, then read this book after seeing the movie. It is such a good book -- some parts sad, some funny -- VERY long but a really good book!
Next would have to be The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. When the movie came out, I decided to wait to see the movie till after I read the book -- which was a great idea because while the movie keeps to the book's storyline, it had to leave some stuff out for length. The book is wonderful, though, and such a tearjerker! (Yes, even for me - who normally does not cry at movies / books!)
Right now I am reading Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander trilogy. I'm on the last book (apparently so are a lot of people -- three out of six of us in my row on the flight to NYC this past weekend!) and they are great books. You should start with the first one, and then the movie is out for this one too (warning: it's in Swedish w/ subtitles though!)

ReplyDeleteThe Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - is on my nook ready to read - that's the first one right?? =) I've been wanting to read them - I love the controversy surrounding the novel in the U.S.!
